Information Mapapal handles

Depending on how you use the service, Mapapal may handle account details you provide, profile and pal information, trip details, recorded GPS positions, and technical information needed to deliver and protect the service. If you use Mapapal without an account, the trip and its unique sharing link are still needed to make live following work.

How the information is used

Information is used to operate Mapapal: to authenticate accounts, record and display trips, share live progress with the audience you choose, maintain trip history, provide support, and keep the service reliable and secure. Information should be collected fairly, kept relevant and accurate where practical, and retained only as long as needed for these purposes or other legitimate requirements.

Your sharing choices

Each trip can be private, shared with pals, or public. A unique trip link can also grant access to the person who receives it, so treat that link with the same care as any other private invitation. Public trips may be visible to people beyond your own network.

Cookies and similar browser storage

Mapapal may use cookies and browser storage that are necessary to keep you signed in, remember preferences, restore an opened sharing link, and make core features work. These technologies save you from repeating the same choices on every visit. You can remove stored site data in your browser, but doing so may sign you out, reset preferences, or remove locally remembered access to a shared trip.

Maps and external services

Map views and app-download links rely on third-party services such as Google Maps, Google Play and Apple’s App Store. When you use those features, the provider may receive technical information under its own privacy terms. Links to other sites are provided for convenience and Mapapal does not control their content or privacy practices.

Security and your choices

Mapapal takes reasonable measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorized access. No internet service can promise absolute security. You can adjust a trip’s visibility and, where the service allows it, edit or delete your own trips. Contact us if you have a privacy question or want to request access, correction or deletion where applicable.
